6 Bedrooms • 2 Bathrooms 2 Baths • Sleeps 10Hole Farmhouse is our previous family home, currently available for rent because we have moved away.
It's available short term for holidays, weekends away etc.
For people moving to the area who haven't yet found a permanent home we can provide longer term accommodation at a reduced rent - please ask).
Rural location with good access to Shrewsbury. Although best for car owners it's on a bus route too. Easy commute to Shrewsbury, Telford/Wolverhampton or Welshpool.
This is an old Farmhouse, with old and traditional furniture and fittings such as an oil fired aga, open fires/woodburners and a large and rambling garden. It comfortably accommodates a large family.
The house is currently fully furnished and ready for use, including a large cellar, which is an extension of the kitchen. There is an electric cooker there for those nervous of aga cooking (which is a fixed temperature). And there is oil fired central heating too, so it is quite warm. There is a ground floor bedroom which can be used as an office for home workers. There are two reception rooms with wood burners, and a TV.
The driveway, the enclosed garden and the local footpaths (one goes past the property) are available for free access. There is parking space for several cars behind the house, including an electric car charging point.
There is a group of farm buildings in poor repair which must not be entered by guests due to risk of harm (to yourselves and to the buildings). For this reason children should certainly be supervised while outside.
We are working away most of the time, so we are unlikely to meet. However the next door neighbours are very helpful and will answer questions, get your car started, contact me in an emergency etc.
The house is on the edge of a hamlet with 3 farms and approximately 20 other houses, overlooking the Rea valley. The nearest shop (general store) and Post Office is 1 mile and a half (walkable), where there is also a doctors surgery, a community hall, a church and a pub.
There is lots of space to park cars, both on the driveway and on the community land in front of the house. There is also a charging point for electric cars which you can use. There is a bus route on the main road, with a bus to Shrewsbury 3 times per day. And there are many local footpaths across the surrounding countryside. The nearest railway station is Shrewsbury and a taxi from there to the farm will cost approx. £15.
The view from the kitchen window is of the Stiperstones and the Shropshire Hills. Beautiful North Wales is only a stone's throw away. With 1-2 hours drive either side, day trips to the west coast and for walking Snowden and the mountains are an easy option.
